New Photos from Mongolia! – Art Wolfe

Mongolia Picture Journey – July 2022

This vacation experienced initially been planned for July 2020, then COVID occurred. I am eternally grateful that individuals hung on to their reservations for two several years and we had been ready to have an awesome vacation!

Our concentration was cultural, even though we did have a quite handful of wildlife sightings such as a critically endangered saiga antelope that galloped past us in a flash.

We had been equipped to remain with and photograph the legendary Kazakh eagle hunters and even crashed a wedding. In the vicinity of Khovd we went to a traditional pageant referred to as a nadaam, with dusty, spirited horse races, and beefy wrestlers who manufactured brief function of troopers who had been attending. At last, as element of the group break up off to photograph the endangered takhi (Przewalski’s horse) I was capable to meet up with with shamans. In the Soviet era, Shamanism (and Buddhism) were being repressed, but the ancient cultural traditions are producing a resurgence.

The vast steppe and arid mountains of Mongolia are spectacular. It is awe-inspiring to witness a rainstorm sweeping throughout the land and passing clouds dapple the hillsides. It is actually just one of the past spots where 1 can really feel so compact still invigorated by mother nature.
