“American Honey” by Photographer Julien Sage
Functioning as a tour manager for rock and roll bands, photographer Julien Sage (formerly featured here) managed a few unique US tours among 2019 and 2022, taking him from his dwelling state of California to the Northeastern edges of the state and again all over again. “During these journeys I would enter into a sure mode of existence that is extremely non permanent and, as a result, delicate,” he describes. “I identified myself becoming increasingly curious about the matters I was ready to knowledge and internalize through a time of this sort of swift movement.”
Bringing his digital camera alongside for the journey, Sage took the prospect to photograph exterior of America’s metropolitan hubs, capturing the absurd and lovely times he encountered above the study course of his travels. “Were they to stand by yourself, these photographs could be boiled down to snapshots,” he states. “Some of my favored photographic undertakings could be similarly described.” Inspired by the tradition of American highway trip photography, Sage views the images in “American Honey” as a continuation of that lineage, outlining: “The shots signify a lot to me appropriate now and they meant a large amount when I was making them but definitely, they are supposed to age. My favorite thing about images is the accumulation of meaning more than time. Men and women, sites and issues are superb resources to support visually describe the passing of time.”
